GOLDEN RULES

The following are our GOLDEN RULES OF ROCK APPRECIATION.

[See post #4 for further explanation.]

.

#1:

You must listen to the music.

No snap judgments on a band until you know the material.  Period.

.

#2:

You must bring respect and/or enthusiasm to the table.

Leave all attitudes and preconceptions at the door – try to enjoy every band as if you are a fan… and if that’s asking too much:  pretend you are a “lawyer” representing their material for our case.

.

#3:

Give attention to Context.

Understand the socio-historical-musical context of when an act releases its material.  This is essential to recognizing the impact of a band.

.

#4:

Give attention to Chronology.

Track your band from first album to the last, and recognize how they develop over the course of their career.  The whole story is the whole story, and it makes a difference.
